AODC 2002
Sheraton Melbourne - 17th to 19th April 2002
What a success! AODC 2002 was held at Sheraton Towers Southgate Hotel in Melbourne,
and was attended by over 160 delegates, speakers and exhibitors. Delegates were
made up of documentation professionals from many fields, including corporate
documentation, help development, Web authoring and technical writing, and came
from most Australian states, New Zealand and Singapore.
A group of expert speakers from Australia, New Zealand, the United States and
the United Kingdom presented 24 sessions. The areas covered included information
architecture, writing techniques for online delivery, usability, feedback
mechanisms, migrating projects from WinHelp to HTML Help, image maps and graphic
manipulation, and new authoring tools.
An unusual highlight on the social front was the AODC Band, which played at
the welcome reception, and again at a local pub. A quiz night at Young and
Jackson's Hotel, hosted by the ubiquitous "Uncle" Dave Gash, added to
the friendly and relaxing atmosphere of the conference in general.
